Sonia Kashuk Beauty has done it again! Another beautiful addition to my makeup vanity.
“How STUNNING are these sponges? OMG, the bottom is perfectly flat! This sponge is genius.”*
(*Direct quote from me, as I destroy the packaging)
There’s a new beauty sponge competitor on the market. Please welcome the Sonia Kashuk Makeup Blender Sponge in Marble. I recently came across this makeup blending gem on one of my usual Target strolls. It appears the Target Beauty line has been rebranded and is launching new designs! I have a feeling this Sonia Kashuk blending sponge is just the first of many new, exciting things to come.
*Internal screaming and fan-girling*
This sponge features a design I have not seen much in the beauty-sponge world. It has a completely flat base! It’s such an amazing idea because you get the “classic” egg-shape, but it also comes with a smooth, flat blending surface. The best of both world, I say! I can get the coverage I need with the flat bottom but also get into smaller areas, like around the eyes and nose, with the pointed tip. SO GENIUS.
Texture: This sponge has a more distinct texture than some of the other sponges I own (you can find the full comparisons down below) but, it’s not so textured that it feels rough at all.
Size: This sponge expands to around double it’s original size when damp. This is a plus for me because I have a thing for larger sponges.
Density: This is a VERY dense sponge. Thick. Hefty. When you squeeze it, it is firmer and has less give than the other sponges in my collection.
Details of how the Sonia Kashuk marble blending sponge stacks up compared to a few other sponges in my collection. I tried to pick the most popular or well-known beauty sponges to compare against the Sonia Kashuk blending sponge. The Sonia Kashuk sponge is the biggest, densest, most-textured out of the bunch.
Fenty Beauty Precision Makeup Sponge – The softest and squishiest, with the least amount of texture out of all the sponges. Approximately the same “size” as the Beauty Blender minus about 1/4 due to the chiseled edge and cut-off tip. Complete opposite of the Sonia Kashuk blending sponge in terms of texture, size, and squishability.
Beauty Blender – The ORIGINAL Beauty Blender. This has a rounded bottom as opposed to the marble sponge’s flat bottom. The Beauty Blender sponge is easier to squish together with less resistance and less texture than the Sonia Kashuk and Real Techniques sponges, but, has more texture and resistance than the Fenty Beauty sponge.
Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge – This sponge has a chiseled bottom! The flat bottom on Sonia Kashuk blending sponge has more surface area than the chiseled bottom of the Real Techniques sponge. The point at the top is the same and the height is the same essentially making the sponges appear the same size bottom to tip. The only difference in size, however, is that the Sonia Kashuk blending sponge is wider all the way around. The Real Techniques sponge has less resistance and less texture than Sonia Kashuk sponge but more texture and resistance than the Beauty Blender sponge and Fenty Beauty sponge.
